& a $20 billion a year budget, not excluding her appointment to Cabinet.
Wow that's pretty cool, in fact it's awesome!
MP Paula Bennett has had that honour bestowed upon her by Prime Minsiter Elect John Key.
Just hope she:
- don't get to departmentalised in the process
- doesn't forget where she came from.
- & that she realises that WINZ customers have had a better quality of service under the Labour Govt's administration than they've had under the previous National Govt's.
So on that note I just hope she maintains the status quo.
With regards to CYFS.
I haven't noticed any changes therein at all.
I recall that during previous high profile child abuse & killings, the Labour Govt's reactive measures were to:
- provide Govt Depts in particularly CYFS with more funding.
Many months down the track social workers & CYFS staff are still telling whanau that there's insufficient funds to get them to & from FGC's or they're not able to adequately finance an FGC plan.
Now that the Hon Tariana Turiana has an Associate Minister Of Social Development portfolio, it is hoped that she'll be able to make some significantly positive inroads not just for maori but for all NZ's.
By the way I agree with her pre election view that the dole is not good for the spirit of the maori people & that it should be abolished. That means if you're not sick or not looking after children, you should & need to be working. If they can come up with some viable options? (viz: my own thoughts):
- making them work for the minimum wage per week up to the amount of money that they're entitled to if they were getting the dole (eg):
1. if they're getting $120 pw then they work 10 hours doing whatever benefits their local communities.
2. the other 28 hours per week they be compelled to attend a free training course or free adult apprenticeships (as I understand it there is a huge under supply of skilled workers in the trades industry) of their choice.
This means that the govt will have to create a diverse selection of such courses, as well as funding course providers.
Anyway I'm confident that the Maori Party will come up with some intelligent solutions to help address this problem, as they've initiated a step in the right direction to help eliminate idleness amongst maori specifically as 40% of those receiving the dole are maori.
This will benefit the country as a whole & will positively impact on crime statistics.
God bless Our Beautiful Country,
Patu
